There is a relatively "new" product in the Billion dollar industry to help promote weight loss and it is called "Slendesta".
This product has been approved by Health Canada and has been given "non novel" food status, which essentially means that it can be added to any food or beverage product without any further approval process.
Slendesta is the brand name for a protein, PI2, that originates in white potatoes where it is found naturally just under the skin. This protein is what creates the feeling of being full when you eat potatoes.
It works as a non-stimulant appetite suppressant, in effect making you feel full and in that way helping you to stay on your weight loss regimen.
You would have to eat between three and four white potatoes to consume the same amount of this protein. Slendesta powder contains as much as 95% fillers such as cellulose, according to Corey Jansen, a product manager from Kemin Health, the creator of Slendesta.
