The purpose of these "hours", "days", events are definitely symbolic. Very little "measurable change" happens as a result of these events, especially when compared to the effort in publicizing such events...
Then WHY?
Because evidence shows that there are so many of us that are not "getting" the message. And if we are getting the message, we are not doing a lot about it.
Its as simple as this:
IF WE CONTINUE TO LIVE THE WAY WE DO, CONSUMING & POLLUTING AT CURRENT RATES, OUR EARTH WILL BECOME UNINHABITABLE BY HUMANS, at least in the manner which we have lived up to now.
The real purpose of these events is to raise global awareness. Perhaps to "move" people enough to demand action by our leaders.
The problem... "talk is cheap" ... some of us, maybe even many of us SAY we care. The true "measure" is in what we DO. Not just for an "hour"... not just for a "day".
and continue to do your own research. Then start to tell other people about it... show them, have them look for themselves. Start with those you care about, and then work your way outwards.
I believe we can make a difference. For me, I think it is easier to start making small changes and better decisions and then keep on trying to make bigger and bigger changes. Good habits are just as easy to form as Bad habits.
For now, if we can make the positive changes that have little or no real "cost", that is a start. Eventually, we will have to decide if Saving Our Planet is worth a little less luxury or a little more effort.
For this issue, you cannot sit on the sideline.
YOU ARE EITHER PART OF THE SOLUTION, OR YOU ARE THE PROBLEM
